A Cop When You Need One

I was on my way to work one morning, going about 6 miles over the speed limit on the freeway, when a large pick up flew past me.  He had to be going at least 20 miles over the speed limit.  My first thought was, "You go boy, you get the ticket, I'll let you".  My second thought was, "Where are the cops when you need one."

Just before I finished the second thought, I spied a motorcycle cop sitting along the side of the freeway.  As I passed him, I noticed that he was starting his engine and putting the kickstand up.  I looked up to see where the pick truck was, he had slowed down and had started moving to the right.  It was obvious that he knew he had gotten caught speeding.

I glanced back again to see where the cop was and he was spinning out, throwing dirt off the back tire and speeding into traffic.  The cop flew around me extremely fast.  By the time he caught up with the pickup truck, the truck had moved all 4 lanes over to the right side and had started pulling over.

I'm not sure why, but I got a kick out of that, made me smile and giggle.  Does that make me an evil mean person?

Golfing

Golfing is one of my Favorite Things

I truly love being outside in the fresh air, among green grass and trees, with the occasional water feature, pond or stream.  Of course, being away from work is wonderful as well.  One of the best feelings in the world is hitting that really long straight drive, chipping right onto the green and putting a long shot right into the hole.   It's not about the score, most the time I don't even write it down, its about the feeling of satisfaction, of accomplishment and pride.

I'm so bad that I even like watching golf on TV.  Unfortunately, I don't have cable anymore, so I don't get to see my favorite players make those amazing shots anymore.  One of my friends watches all the time, he gets to brag about the game and the fantastic shots that he got to see.  I really miss being able to watch golf.  I don't mind missing any other sport, even football doesn't excite me as much as watching golf.

I'm strange, I know.  Not many women would be able to admit the same.  However, I've never professed to be a normal woman.  Besides, who is really normal anyway?  What is normal?  I would rather be strange, weird or mysterious than the boring normal that everyone keeps saying that they want.  Wouldn't you?

Gargoyle Protection

Humans need Protectors

I dated a guy once in California, that told me that gargoyles are of the devil. He tried to make me get rid of my gargoyle collection, that I've had since I was 12 and has become big enough to fill my office.

Several years later, I dated a different man in Utah that told me that gargoyles are evil and that I was worshiping the devil by having them in my home. I actually started laughing when he said this, because it was so ridiculous.

Why are there so many misconceptions about gargoyles? I did see a really badly made movie from the 70's that portrayed them as evil  man eating monsters. What kind of  idiot came up with that idea?

Gargoyles are protectors of the human race. This is why they are on Catholic Churches in England and many other structures all around the world. They are made scary looking to scare away the evil beings that might attack humans at night. They turn into stone during the day, then come alive at night to keep humanity safe from any harm.

Of course, you can find any info you want to find online. I've found some pretty funny stuff and much of it was false.

I love these fictional characters and cherish what they stand for. I've even had a mailbox with a gargoyle statue fashioned out of scrap metal and cemented into my front yard. The full artistic piece stands about 6 1/2 feet tall and we call him Rupert.  I gladly paid $2,000 for him. I get a lot of stares, kids pointing at it, I've even had people passing by stop and take a picture of him. Last year I found one of those pictures as someones profile photo, during Halloween, on Facebook.

Strangely I feel just a bit safer at home. Not that I actually think Rupert will come alive and protect me at night, but if a thief was to scope out the neighborhood, the last house he would pick to break into is the house with the crazy looking statue out front.

Sun Sensitivity

Am I a Vampire?

I seem to be one of the few that have a bad reaction to the sun. Almost, like an allergic reaction. I'm the one that can't wait until Winter. Not because I ski, sled or ice fish, but because warm weather creates pain in my body. Honestly, any heat creates pain in my body, but the sun seems to affect me the fastest.

When the sun comes out, I rush for a shady area, in nearly a panic. When I'm driving, if the sun comes in the window, I shrink from it, put down my visor and will even shift in my seat to avoid the touch of any sun rays. If I'm in the sun, with in seconds, the pain in my body increases from just mild irritation to a stabbing pain that practically drops me to my knees. It feels like a thousand fire ants are biting me. If I don't get out of the sun and cooled down fast, those fire ants turn into red hot ice picks.

At this point I'm slightly dizzy and having a hard time thinking straight. If I don't get cooled down after that, those hot ice picks turn into burning cattle prods, shooting hot electrical pain through my body and affecting every area. At this point, I can't walk and the only thing I can muster is to cry.

One of my daughters has a similar issue, just not as bad, yet was given a heat hazard badge in the Army to prevent her from getting too hot.  However, my youngest daughter loves the heat and thrives in the hottest of summers, but hates winter and often goes into depression when its too cold for too long.

I've had a lot of doctors / specialists look at  my condition. None really know what is going on with me, but I've had a bunch of guesses.  I've been told that I have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Tarsal Tunnel, Plantar Fasciitis, etc, etc, etc.  All of these, some of these or none of these have to do with these heat issues.  The doctors don't really know what is wrong, every doctor says something different.

It's so frustrating that with today's medical advancements, no one can tell me really, why I am in so much pain all the time, why heat and sun makes it so much worse and if there are any known treatments.
